Skowerski Back For World Pool Masters XXV

Karol Skowerski will be hoping to repeat ‘a dream come true’ and lift the World Pool Masters for a second time when he returns as part of a line-up of former champions for the 25th edition of 9-ball’s biggest invitational tournament in Gibraltar this March 2-4.

Skowerski stormed to World Pool Masters glory in 2012, lifting the trophy in his hometown of Kielce, Poland with an 8-6 triumph over compatriot Mateusz Sniegocki in the final. Skowerski had defeated Shane van Boening, Tony Drago and Nick van den Berg en route to the final.

He joins a superstar line-up of former World Pool Masters winners with Ralf Souquet, Darren Appleton and Niels Feijen among those already confirmed for Gibraltar.

“Winning the World Pool Masters is definitely my best ever sporting memory,” said Skowerski. “When you are a kid, who started an adventure with pool, you watch the World Pool Masters on TV and have a dream – one day you can compete in event like this. In 2012 my dream came true. On home soil, in your hometown, in front of your fans and family. Winning in such conditions cannot be described in any words.

“Taking part in the World Pool Masters is an amazing distinction for me but this year’s edition will be very exciting for me – there will be pool gods, some of them are my idols.

“The World Pool Masters is one of those tournaments, for which it is worth playing pool. The venue, prize money, the live TV coverage and the best players in the world all in the same place – all of this makes the World Pool Masters unique. I love playing in events like this.

“I realize that in this group of champions, I am not one of the favourites. In 2012 nobody bet on the Poles and we played an all-Polish final, myself against Mateusz, so who can say I can’t win it again again? Of course, it will be very difficult, because the field is the strongest ever, but why not? I will definitely try my best!”

Tickets for the 25th World Pool Masters are on sale now priced £7-12 per session with season tickets available for just £34.99 at www.buytickets.gi.

The World Pool Masters will be broadcast live for 20 hours in total on Sky Sports in the UK and on networks around the world. The World Pool Masters is sponsored by the following suppliers: RASSON (tables), IWAN SIMONIS (cloth), SALUC (balls), PREDATOR (cues) and ULTIMATE TEAM GEAR (clothing).
