Filler beat Wu Jiaqing 13-10 in the 2019 final and feels ready to join a select group who have won back-to-back US Open Pool Championship titles: “I‘m still getting goosebumps when I think about it. It was probably the best tournament I played. And crowning that performance with the US Open Pool Championship title was just unbelievable.”
The German goes into the US Open in good form, winning the World Cup of Pool with partner Christoph Reintjes: “Obviously my latest results were quite good with winning the World Cup of Pool and also a EuroTour title. I will come with confidence that’s for sure but I will not go in as the defending champion from my side. I want to win it not defend it.”
The Matchroom Pool World Ranking No.3 holds special memories: “The US Open Pool Championship is special because it’s the biggest tournament we have with 256 players from all over the world. That’s why it is the toughest tournament to win in my opinion. I’ve never been to AC, so I’m pretty excited but mainly I just want to focus on the event.”
